A memorial service hosted by local palliative care staff is likely to become an annual event after the community’s support of last Thursday’s memorial service at the Senior Citizen’s Centre.
The aim of last week’s service was to provide an opportunity for people to remember their loved ones who have died.
Palliative care staff from Hunter New England Health joined with palliative care volunteers, Gloucester High School students and other community representatives in presenting the service.
More than 30 people signed the book of remembrance and organisers said they received positive feedback from those who attended as to the importance of such a memorial service.
It is now likely to be held annually in conjunction with Palliative Care Week. Similar services are held once a year in Forster and Taree.
