Accreditation and a building programme

22 Jul, 2009 05:00 AM
Staff and residents of Stroud Community Lodge are celebrating after the aged care facility received its aged care accreditation for a further three year period.

The Lodge came through the accreditation process for the Department of Health and Aging aged care accreditation and standards with a pass for all 44 standards.

Administrator Judy Pereira said the facility, while small, is a lovely centre with a wonderful reputation that will turn 20 in February 2010.

She said the centre, which was built with community funds, started out with just 12 beds. In the past two decades a further eight beds were built, then a third building project saw the self care units and four additional beds built. The Lodge currently has 25 beds, including one respite bed, and three self care rooms.

Now, construction of a further six more rooms and communal lounge room is underway.
