Around 100 people gathered in Billabong Park on Sunday to support Lock the Gate Alliance’s national day of action against coal seam gas.
The local rally, organised by the Barrington Gloucester Stroud Preservation Alliance featured a number of local speakers including Cr Tony Tersteeg.
Those present were also given an update on the Alliance’s court case in the Land and Environment Court appealing the approval of AGL’s coal seam gas development. The hearing started in Sydney on Monday.
Chairman of the Manning Alliance Inc. Peter Epov told the rally that BGSPA has not been invited to give evidence at the NSW Upper House Inquiry into Coal Seam Gas to be held in Taree on October 31.
Mr Epov said he was very surprised that the BGSPA has not been given an opportunity to amplify their evidence to the NSW Legislative Council’s Committee, inquiring into CSG.
“Gloucester is and has been at the forefront of the CSG battle here in New South Wales. The BGSPA have been single handedly battling CSG for a number of years. They have amassed a great deal of important information, which I thought would have been very relevant to the Inquiry,” he said.
