Gloucester Resources interim findings released

17 Sep, 2008 05:00 AM
Chairman of the Gloucester Community Consultation Committee Terrence Healey has released the details of an interim report to the committee from coal exploration licence holder Gloucester Resources Ltd (GRL).

Gloucester Resources holds three exploration licenses in the Gloucester basin and the community consultative committee was established after the licences were granted.

The consultative committee is made of up representatives from Gloucester Resources, council and community representatives.

In the interim report tabled at the August 29 meeting Gloucester Resources managing director Brian Wingett said that the company would soon receive an update from its drilling contractors as to when drilling rigs for the exploration project will arrive and be commissioned.

He said that the project continues to move ahead with continuing assessment and re-processing of historic exploration data, seismic data and other material which is being input “to the evolving final design of GRLs exploration program”.

The report gives further details of what data is being re-interpreted and re-processed and how this information will be used by the company.

The report gives no indication of any time frames as to when this work will commence or be completed apart from stating that GRLs seismic consultants are “nearing completion” on the re-processing of historic seismic data and will “shortly embark” on re-interpretation of the re-processed historic seismic data.

The report also details GRLs community involvement including sponsorship of the Chill Out Festival and Gloucester Rugby League Football club.

Community consultative committee chairman Terrence Healey can be contacted at 16 Church St, Newcastle or on 0419 447547 and other committee members also provided contact details for the community. Brian Wingett 0428 259 602, Steve Robinson (6558 7428), John Hughes (9979 9749), Trevor Sansom (6558 2040), Gerald McCalden (6558 8273), and written requests can be submitted to Gloucester Shire Council.
