Allan Young has been appointed general manager of Gloucester Shire Council.
Mr Young is currently CEO of Balonne Shire Council, centred around St George, in Queensland, which is a rural service town of 2,000 and has a shire population of 5,000.
He will commence duties on September 1, 2008.
Mr Young and his wife Rhonda will be relocating to Gloucester late in August.
He has been appointed to the position left vacant by retiring general manager Norm McLeod who finished work with the organisation on July 4, bringing to an end a 25 year association with the council.
