Inventor hits the big time

1/10/2008 4:00:00 AM
Wards River inventor Cecil Wiseman has finally hit the big time.

Cecil will appear tonight on ABC television’s New Inventors program with his award winning ladder clamp known as the Wiseman Ladafast.

The clamp is secured onto the sides of the ladder while you are on the ground, then hoisted up the ladder so it can be fixed into position around a sturdy fixture such as the top of a wall, or a gutter.

“We’ve been trying for four years to get onto the show and about six weeks ago they finally rang and said we were in,” Cecil said.

Cecil and spent three days in Sydney filming their segment for tonight’s program in what he describes as “a pretty good turn out.”

“I was pretty nervous when we were filming, but then I’m nervous at the best of times.”

Cecil’s device has won a host of awards including the top inventor’s prize at the Australian National Field Days in Orange last year.

Six weeks ago the ladder clamp also won the highly prized safety award at the Sheepvention Field Day in Victoria.

Cecil hopes to begin manufacturing the clamps in Forster in the next few months.

“It’s hard without a lot of money behind you, but we’re hoping to have a few out and about soon.”

The State Emergency Service is interested in trialing the device.

Cecil is hoping tonight’s media exposure might attract more interest in his invention.

Viewers of tonight’s program will have the opportunity to vote for Cecil in the viewer’s choice segment.
