Wards River inventor Cecil Wiseman and his Ladafast invention have been named as finalists in the NSW Workcover NSW Safe Work Awards.
The Ladafast, a unique clamp that holds a ladder in place, was named as finalist in two categories at the awards, announced last Wednesday at a function in Sydney.
Wiseman Industries were finalists in two categories: the best solution to an identified workplace health and safety issue and the best workplace health and safety practices in a small business.
Cecil said to be named a finalist was a huge achievement for Wiseman Industries, as they were up against much larger organisations such as MidCoast County Council (Taree) and many others.
More than 100 entries were received across five award categories.
Finance Minister Joe Tripodi said the awards featured a mix of highly inventive first-time entrants and businesses who have come to regard the Safe Work Awards as a major inspiration to improve their safety practices.
Wiseman’s Ladafast has also featured on the ABC New Inventor’s program in 2008 and won a number of awards including the top inventor’s prize at the Australian National Field Days in Orange in 2007.
