Students art on show

Artworks by Gloucester High School students feature in the Manning Express art exhibition at Taree’s Manning Regional Art Gallery.

The show, features a selection of works from students in Years 7 to 12 at high schools from Gloucester, Chatham, Great Lakes, Bulahdelah, Wingham and Taree.

The 60 selected works were chosen from hundreds of works produced by students during 2009.

Gallery representatives Sue Mitchell and Jane Hosking visited each of the schools to select the works for the exhibition.

Sue said the selection criteria was simply the quality of the works produced by the students.

On show, everything from graphics, including two dimensional and three dimensional pieces, sculpture, photography, print making and paintings.

Manager of the Gloucester Gallery Leanne Barrett judged the exhibition with students eligible to win digital camera packages, certificates and encouragement awards.

The exhibition opened last Thursday and runs through until November 29.

Natalie Williams – ‘Red Face’ – relief print - year 8

Hannah Yates – ‘Sarah’ – coloured pencil drawing – year 8

Samantha Harris – ‘Kristy’ – coloured pencil drawing – year 8

Kyia Eveleigh – ‘Aboriginal Man’ – drawing – year 9

Emily Hamilton – ‘Still Life’ – relief print - year 10

Nina Burrows – ‘Landscape’ – drawing – year 10

Kate Kingston – ‘Dragonfly’ – relief print – year 11

Kate Kingston – ‘Cubist Figure’ – ceramic sculpture – year 11

Jessica Andrews – ‘Figure’ – ceramic sculpture – year 11

Lani Taylor – ‘Head’ – ceramic sculpture – year 11

Lani Taylor – ‘Horse’ – monoprint – year 11

Georgia Berry – ‘Tree of Man’ – photomedia – year 12

James O’Brien – ‘Man’s Best Friend’ – welded steel sculpture – year 12
