Both writers and attendees said they thought it was warm, friendly with a great mix of writers, subjects of interest and inspirational.
Lindy Dupree, festival director, said “We are delighted with the enthusiastic crowd of readers and writers. The panellists have lived up to expectations giving insights into the success of their writing.
“The Friday workshops were well attended with 60 high school students participating in a full day of creative writing workshops which were conducted by Karen Crofts, director of the Hunter Writers Centre.”
Writers enjoyed the experience. Susanne Gervay, the keynote speaker, said she loved the sharing of books beyond the city.
Stephen Measday said that it was the perfect environment to talk about books with attentive listeners who made it a pleasure and it was lots of fun.
Justin Sheedy said that it was friendly, inspirational, character inclusive and intimate in a nice, not sordid way.
Attendees said they found it thoroughly enjoying and met so many fascinating people. The fact that there were no age or gender barriers was unusual at such events.
Writers and participants alike lauded the move to the Gloucester High School, enjoying the excellent facilities prepared with great enthusiasm by the principal, Pat Cavanagh, and his committed staff.
Sharing the journey and sharing the stories is what the festival is all about. Everyone left feeling inspired, motivated, stimulated and sad that it’s over for another year.
