3D archery team classic

04 Nov, 2009 04:00 AM
Avon Valley field Archers last week held the inaugural 3D Team Classic where 66 competitors from clubs in the Hunter Valley, North Coast and New England came together to compete in three man teams and represent their clubs.

Saturday was spent on the 20-target field range, which was laid out with 3D targets in realistic hunting situations.

All teams shot this range twice before moving on to the finals on Sunday morning.

The finals were held on the practice area with all teams taking their turn to shoot while the other teams looked on.

To add some fun to the finals opposing teams were allowed to heckle (within reason), this really put the competiting team under pressure and tested their powers of concentration.

The winning team in the senior sighted division came from the home club, made up of Jonathan Bartlett, Nigel Huckstadt and Phil Duncan. Congratulations boys.

The best senior barebow team was from Namoi Valley Bowman and best ladies team from Hunter Bowman.

The junior division was also won by Hunter Bowman.

This proved to be a great event and will be held again next year.
