Weekend golf
What a weekend two days of golf and packed fields both days and I know all players on the weekend enjoyed the course and the work Hairy and his helpers, especially the threeinches of rain during the week, put in to present the course in such good condition. Of course the weekend wouldn’t be such a success without the all the help I get to conduct the events, thanks very much to all the cooks, scorers and helpers that make my job so much easier. Once again these events would not be as successful without the continued and very generous support of our sponsors and all participating golfers would like to thank very much the following sponsors of this weekend, Gloucester Coal, Gloucester Advocate, Calco Surveyors, Gloucester Medical Centre, Gloucester Dental Clinic, Gloucester Country Lodge, Mt Mooney Pastoral and Ric Pearson.
Now to the winners on the weekend on Saturday Mark Howland and Brian Barlow tore the course up with 48 points to take out the Sponsors day event from Scot Preston and Matt Packer on 45 with Bill and Elaine Murray coming in third. Well done of all you especially Scot who managed to eagle the 11th on his way round to pick up the 1st eagle’s nest we have had in quite some time. NTPs went to Bi9ll Norris in A grade, B grade went to S Crowe, C grade went to Kym Holstein and the 2nd shot was won by Scot as well.
Sunday saw a almost capacity field contest the annual Advocate Cup, which incidentally has been run since 1937, and Hairy Osborne Cup. Wayne “Snowy” Gorton won the Advocate cup with 73 and Terry Ireland the Hairy Osborne cup with 84 respectively, great rounds by both of you. Wayne and Terry won A and B grade with C grade going to B Eadie of Bulahdelah with 100. Runners up were S Donoghue with 75 Dave Garland with 88 and R King with 102. Terry Ireland also won the Ric Pearson trophy for the best local score topping off a great day for Terry.
