The countdown is on for the 2012 Community Swimming Relay.
This year’s event will be held on Monday February 20 at Gloucester Olympic Pool and last year’s winners the Chlorinators are keen to back up their 2011 victory.
Organised by Gloucester Rotary the relay raises funds for local charities and Gloucester Thunderbolts Swimming Club.
To enter, put together a relay team of four participants. Each swimmer has to swim 50metres against their nominated time. So it doesn’t matter how fast or slow, or what stroke you swim in, the secret is to swim to your nominated time. If your team breaks its nominated time by more than eight sectors, the team is disqualified.
To add to the fun of the night organisers are urging teams to pick a theme and dress up for the event.
The night will also feature a number of novelty events.
Entries for the event close on February 17 and there is an entry form included in this week’s Gloucester Advocate. Entry form are also available at Webb Bros, the pool and Gloucester Health Foods.
The community relay will start at 6pm on Monday February 20 and food and drinks will be available on the evening.
