U11s Vs Wauchope - Saturday June 13, at Gloucester.

After a few weeks off due to wet weather, it was good to play a game at home.

The first half saw both teams moving the ball from one end of the field to the other. But it was Wauchope who were able to post the first try. This seemed to jolt Gloucester into more attacking raids. Luke Boorer, off a great back line movement in our half, was able to run nearly the full length of the field to score. Levelling the score at half time.

The second half, saw Gloucester kept under intense pressure in their own half. Which resulted in a high work rate in defence. With this in mind Wauchope were able to run in 3 unanswered tries. To take a 22 – 4 lead. It was not until the last 5 minutes of the game, that the U11s were able to get a shot at their line. Brodie O’Brien scoring over the line. A successful conversion by Logan Penfold, giving a final result of Wauchope 22 – Gloucester 10.

Well done all. Player’s player Jye Barkwill.

U11s Vs Old Bar - Tuesday June 16 at Old Bar

This game was played on Tuesday night, as a make up game due to the wet weather.

It was a great experience for the U11s, as it was played under lights.

The game started out like a grand final, with some big hits and great ball movement from one end of the field to the other. Raid after raid, on each teams try lines, were repelled with great defence from both teams. With five minutes left in the first half, Old Bar were able to score. Their conversion was unsuccessful. We were able to hit back straight away with Luke Boorer scoring, his conversion was unsuccessful. Old Bar 4 – Gloucester 4 at half time.

With the commencement of the second half, mirroring the first half, both teams almost standing in the middle of the field, going head to head against each other. Looking for an opening which could lead to them scoring, that all important try. With the game being played at such a high speed, there was a lot of tired players out on the field. It was down to the final two minutes of play, with Gloucester having the possession of the ball just out of reach, of the try line.

The referee blew his whistle for a penalty against us to give Old Bar the last throw of the dice. Old Bar quickly over to score, then a successful conversion. But the game still had a minute to run and from the kick off, Gloucester was able to get possession back and with one last play, were within five metres of locking it all up, but the siren bet them. The score ended up as Old Bar 10 – Gloucester 4.

Spectators and coaching staff from both sides held high praise to which the standard the game was played at.

Well done. Player’s player Brodie O’Brien.

U11s Vs Camden Haven – Saturday June 20 at home

This was our team’s third game in seven days. The previous games were played against the top two ranking teams, so backing up would take some special talent from our U11’s.

The game was played in light misty rain, the ground still in good condition to play a safe game of rugby league. Camden Haven had a big set of forwards and were playing the game up the middle, as the wet weather would suit this type of play. But our forward pack were able to meet them in defence, which resulted in the backs being able to put the ball to good use. With a back line movement in Camden Haven’s quarter, Bailey Mulderwas able to score. With Justin Berry hitting the post with his attempt at conversion. 4-0.

With the rain getting a little heavier before the break, Camden Haven got over the line.

6 -4 Camden Haven’s way at half time.

The second half can best be described as an arm wrestle, with both teams just falling short of that all important try. Our U11’s could smell victory and once again it was down to the final minutes before Gloucester were able to score by Curtis Landers. Conversion successful by Luke Boorer.

Final score Gloucester 10 – Camden Haven 4.

Well what a week for our U11s, three different games, from a sunny Saturday, under lights on Tuesday and rain on Saturday. We are so proud of our young Rugby League players. Player’s player Logan Penfold.
