Vets golf
Tuesday October 20 saw the Gloucester Veteran’s 4 Ball Best Ball plus Individual Stableford event being held. A good field consisting of twenty two players attended including Otto Stadelmann, a visitor from the Central Coast who was warmly welcomed in by Peter MacIntyre who officiated as Captain for the days event.
Following his recent second place success in the Peter Koller Memorial Trophy event of last week, Jeff Jennings in partnership with John Barraclough took out the 4 BBB competition on attaining a very credible 48points.
Within striking distance of a win was Dave Mann and Dave Mitchell on 47points followed by Bill Radford and Keith Caldwell who on a count back attained 43 points.
In the Individual Stableford, Jeff Jennings attained yet another winning score by achieving a total of 44points with Dave Mitchell being a runner-up. Not contented with his wins, Jeff managed to lob a ball within one metre of the pin on the short Par 3 taking out the NTP prize. It was certainly Jeff’s day - so well done Jeff.
The Stayers Award went to Charlie Faulkner. Members are reminded that this year’s Christmas Party for the Vets will be held at the home of Keith Caldwell on October 29.
From the Eighth - “ It was said once by Arnold Palmer that golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated. It satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is, at the same time, rewarding and maddening, but it is without doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented.”
