GOURMET sausages continue to be the domain of Darrel’s Gourmet Meats.
Darrel Wisemantel and Sid Yates received a stack of gongs at the recent Mid North Coast Sausage King awards, including a first place in the Gourmet-Open Class category.
The Worcestershire sauce and cracked pepper creation was considered the outstanding entry by the judges.
He also received a second place in the same category for his honey and macadamia nut sausages.
Darrel’s traditional Australian pork snags were awarded a third placing.
Darrel has been entering the Sausage King awards since 1995.
He started experimenting with gourmet creations in the late 1990s.
Darrel’s Gourmet Meats currently offers 10 different varieties of sausage.
All the sausages are made from local meat.
Last year Darrel received a second place at the State awards for his traditional Australian pork snags.
