GLOUCESTER senior and junior cricket competitions will begin this Saturday.
Five teams will again battle it out for the title in the Gloucester District Cricket Association competition.
Early predictions are that the Soldiers Club Colts, wooden spooners in 2012-13, could be one of the surprise packets of the season.
“Colts have recruited well,” association president Adam Cameron said.
“They’ve got Keiran Burley back. Keiran’s been playing in Taree for the past couple of seasons. He’ll be a big asset.”
Alongside the Colts will be the reigning premiers Rawdon Vale, the Top Pub Cavaliers, Stroud and Mount George. This weekend will see Rawdon Vale take on Colts on number two oval while Stroud play Cavs on number one.
The Gloucester seven-a-side competition will be held on December 14 while the Country Plate campaign begins against Wauchope on Sunday, November 3.
