VISITORS to the Gloucester Pool will notice some new additions.
A new shade structure next to the wading pool is in the final stages of construction while a spray feature in the pool is sure to be a hit with the little ones.
The new shade structure has been donated by the Gloucester Thunderbolts Swimming Club and will be officially opened as part of the club and pool’s 50th anniversary celebrations next month.
“Dave Windred has coordinated the work and sourced all the materials for the project,” pool manager Tad Parish said.
“Yates Bros sawmill kindly donated a large quantity of timber for the project. Trevor Forbes, Matt Leibrandt, Dave, Ray Fitzgerald and Dougal Ward poured the slab.
"Nathan O’Brien and his apprentices with assistance from Dave, Ray and Mark Edwards donated their time to erect the structure.”
Scarborough Engineering assisted with the installation of the spray feature and the pool has also purchased several new floating foam feet, which are available to hire for $1 an hour.
Five new banana deck chairs and new tables and chairs for the kiosk and coffee shop are expected to arrive this week.
