THE Gloucester Country Club’s annual open day comprising the Gloucester Advocate Cup and the Brian ‘Hairy’ Osborne Cup was held last Sunday, October 28.

The Advocate Cup is sponsored by the Gloucester Advocate and has been held since 1937.
Other sponsors were Jamie Cameron from Stroud Carriers, the Country Lodge Motel and Fairways Restaurant, Col Laurie and Tony Wilson.
The open day is one of the club’s major events and visitors from neighbouring clubs including Wingham, Stroud, Hawks Nest, Karuah, Bulahdelah and Forster were in attendance.
The Advocate Cup scratch winner was Ben Marron with a two over par 74 after a four-way play-off with W Gorton, D Searle and P Blanch.
The winner of the count-back for runner up was Paul Blanch. The Brian Osborne Cup is for handicaps between 14 and 36 and the scratch winner was Garry Smith with 81.
The runner-up was G Russel with 84.
The C grade scratch winner was G Randall (102) and the C grade scratch runner-up was W Mansfield (102). The nett winners were A grade D Searle (70), B grade B McKechnie (70) and C grade I Schultz (76).
The nett runners-up were A grade M Joyce (71), B grade D Martin (72) and C grade G Marsh (78). Nearest the pins went to R Pearson in A grade on the fourth and 13th, B McKechnie in B grade on the sixth and 15th and D Nichols in C grade on the sixth and 15th.
Long drives on the eighth and 17th went to J Foot in A grade, D Schultz in B grade and G Marsh in C grade.
The ball competition went to non trophy winners with nett scores down to 77.
Bradman awards were presented in each of the grades to J Foot, W Westley and E Paff.
