Karyn Looby has replaced Therese Ryan as the company’s chief liaison with the local community.
Ms Looby has moved her young family to town after three years in Queensland where she worked in a similar role with BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (known as BMA).
Most recently she was the senior community advisor at BMA’s metallurgical coal operations based in Moranbah.
Prior to that, Karyn worked for BHP Billiton Iron Ore based in Newman, Western Australia, at the company’s Mount Whaleback operation.
“I’m really happy to be here in Gloucester. It’s a beautiful town and I’m sure I’ll meet a lot of interesting people from a variety of backgrounds in my community relations role,” Karyn said.
“I’ve moved my husband and one-year-old and five-year-old daughters all the way here from Far North Queensland and already it reminds me of where I grew up on a dairy farm in Waikato in New Zealand.
“We’re looking forward to being involved in the community and making Gloucester home.
“The opportunity to deliver positive outcomes with the community is very exciting and I look forward to meeting new people and becoming part of the community here in Gloucester.”
Karyn holds a Bachelor of International Business Management and is completing a graduate diploma of community relations (in the resource sector) at the University of Queensland.
Karyn also worked for Gulf Air in the Middle East and as a manager at a tourism resort in Mansfield, Victoria.
