The 66-year-old was stopped by police on Barrington St about 11.40pm on Saturday and returned a positive breath test.
He was arrested and taken to Gloucester Police Station where he allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.148.
The man was charged with mid range drink driving and his licence was suspended.
The man will appear in the Gloucester Local Court in February.
