Budding poets are needed to write some lines in rhyme with a rural or bush theme as part of the competition.
There will be three competition classes: primary students, secondary students and an open class.
Competitors are asked to submit two copies for judging and include their name, age and address.
Entries must be submitted by Friday, March 14 with book prizes donated to the winner of each class.
Post entries to Gloucester Show; PO Box 232 Gloucester and mark the envelope ‘Poetry competition’.
Selected poems will be recited at times on the second day of the show.
There is no word limit on poems which can be on any subject as long as they apply to the bush-rural theme.
A panel of two judges will select the best poems.
In addition to the poetry competition, people are encouraged to dress in period costume for this year’s show.
The best dressed will be invited to ride on an old time float in the grand parade.
