GLOUCESTER High has finally taken possession of its new bus.
The bus arrived last month and has already been put to good use.
A long standing fundraising project of the Gloucester High P and C, the purchase was made possible thanks to a $45,000 federal government grant, and donations of $20,000 (Yancoal) and $4000 (from the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union).
“There was quite a bit of uncertainty for a while, mainly surrounding federal elections, caretaker mode and a great deal of paperwork,” principal Pat Cavanagh said.
Mr Cavanagh said the purchase of the bus would have positive outcomes for students.
“The estimated reduction in the cost of excursions requiring travel is around the 50 per cent mark,” he said.
“This, added to the convenience of having our own vehicle, makes the wait and the effort well worth it.”
“I would like to personally pass on my thanks to Kerrie Cowan from Newcombe’s for her ongoing advice and assistance in the purchase.”
