People are being contacted by callers with foreign accents claiming to be ringing on behalf of Telstra and informing customers they are entitled to a refund due to an excessive bill or over charging.
They then ask customers for their credit card or bank details.
Senior Constable Scott Chester said customers should not provide any details to the callers - it is a fraud.
SCAMwatch is a website run by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
It provides information to consumers and small businesses about how to recognise, avoid and report scams.
