Gloucester High year 11 student Shannon Baker will this week head to Melbourne for the Climate Reality Leadership Corps training seminar headed by Mr Gore.
Shannon applied online to attend the seminar through the Climate Reality Project.
The course will equip trainees with everything they need to be highly effective climate messengers in their community, spreading the word about the local and global impacts of climate change.
During the training, students will hear from Climate Reality Project chairman Mr Gore and a group of world-class scientists, strategists, communicators and technical specialists about the science of climate change and what its impacts are costing communities across the nation.
The trainees also learn about the solutions that are available today and how to communicate climate science and solutions effectively to audiences everywhere.
The conference runs from today until Friday.
