COMPETITORS from across the region descended on Gloucester, Nabiac and Wingham for the annual Glowalman Junior Rodeo Championships last week.

The event was staged over three days, starting at Nabiac last Tuesday and concluding at Wingham last Saturday.
The Gloucester leg of the rodeo was held last Thursday and was followed by a family day on Friday in which more than 50 teams competed.
Event organisers said the rodeo was a success, with great competition and no major accidents. More than 350 riders competed over the three legs.
“It was a ripper,” Glowalman vice president Kelvin Gregory said.
“We had great weather and great competition so it was very good.”
The age champions from Thursday’s competition at Gloucester were:
- Under 8s: Eddie Maxwell (Tamworth).
- Under 11s: Emily Ninness (Merriwa).
- Under 13s: Chloe Butler (Tenterfield).
- Under 15s: Chloe Shultz (Gloucester).
- Under 17s: Emily Butler (Tenterfield).
- Under 21s: Matthew Ireland (Walcha).
Glowalman awards were presented to the following competitors:
- Gloucester Pharmacy Bend: Daniel Kelly (Nabiac).
- Denise’s Salon Bonfield Bounce: Daniel Kelly (Nabiac).
- Jacko Memorial Trophy Flag: Amber Cole (Stroud).
- Darrel’s Gourmet Butchery Barrel Race: Matthew Kelly (Nabiac).
- Denise’s Salon Bend Bar Aft: Matthew Ireland (Walcha).
- First Time Competitor Award: Tiarne Northey (Scone).
- Gloucester Pony Club Trophy: Chloe Shultz (Gloucester).
- Michelle McMinn Encourage-ment Award: Lachlan Sansom (Gloucester).
The Glowalman Interstate shield was won by the Western Australian team of Tylah Edwards and Alex Gibbs. The last day of competition was held at Wingham on Saturday.
