Most recently the Gloucester Public student contested and won the under 11s boys’ singles competition at the 2014 NSW Country Closed Silver junior tournament in Forster.
The week long competition was held from Sunday, July 6 to Friday, July 11 in the final week of school holidays.
Lleyton defeated Inverell’s Ben Butler in the final of the under 11s and also made it through to the quarterfinals of the under 12s competition.
In the under 12s boys’ doubles Lleyton and partner Ralph Armstrong from Coffs Harbour finished runners-up to Jake Magill from Parkes and Anton Willett from the South Coast.
Lleyton also made it through to the quarterfinals in the under 12s mixed doubles with partner Camila Felix-Vonarx from Young.
Some great tennis was played across the week, with matches played at Forster, Twin Towns and The Sporties tennis courts.
Forster is hosting the country champs for the next three years until 2016.
Lleyton has also been selected to play for the PSSA under 12s Bruce Cup which will be held in Darwin from August 16 to 23.
Each State and Territory selects a team of six boys and six girls with two reserves for the eight-team tournament.
Lleyton played off at the Newcastle PSSA State final to win a reserve position for NSW.
With Lleyton’s Tennis Australia ranking (currently 1713) he was also recently rewarded with a position on the ACT invitational team which Nick Kyrgios played in six years ago.
