POLICE from Port Stephens Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a woman’s body on a property south of Stroud.

The alarm was raised when a 41-year-old woman failed to show up for work which was out of character.
Police were contacted and searched a property at Girvan, between Booral and Bulahdelah, where the woman's body was found in a paddock about 8.30pm on Monday.
The search comprised local police, Police Rescue and Dog Squad, together with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
A horse, complete with saddle, was also located in the paddock.
A crime scene was established while police conduct a full investigation.
At this stage police believe the death is not suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
