Council has commenced preliminary design and survey works at the site with a view to re-opening the bridge.
Funds left over from recent works on Geales Bridge are being used to fund the project.
Council closed the bridge in 2012 due to major structural damage.
Remedial works were planned over the following months but council opted to stall the refurbishment in the hope funding would become available from a local mining company.
At its April meeting, council endorsed a recommendation to look at using $60,000 not used from the Geales Bridge project to repair Jacks Rd Bridge to a 15-tonne load limit capacity.
