Dave’s snags hit the spot

Judges at the Mid North Coast Sausage King awards rated Dave’s creations among the top sausages in the region with his lamb, pumpkin, fetta and shallots and san choy bow pork both taking first prize.

Dave has owned Avon Valley Meats for the past nine years and is a regular entrant in the Sausage King awards.

Dave’s country pork sausages took home a second prize and his beef, bacon and parsley and chicken, chive and sweet corn snags received third place finishes. 

Avon Valley Meats offers a dozen different variety of sausages with the lamb, chicken and traditional beef varieties among the most popular with customers.

“We like to mix it up as much as possible,” Dave said.

“Every week we offer customers between eight and 10 different varieties.”

All sausages are made on premises and Dave and fellow butchers Ashlee Bourchier and Mick Hendrickson each take turns producing snags.

First place winners from the regional titles progress to the State Sausage King finals in Wollongong on October 25.
