Council last week endorsed a new fees structure which will see users of the landfill pay for what they dump.
From October 1 it will cost $40 to dump a small trailer or ute-load of unsorted waste at the landfill. A boot-load or full garbage bin will cost $20.
Sorted general waste, including treated timber and masonry, will cost $8 per car boot or bin-load or $24 per trailer or ute-load.
There will be no charge for sorted recyclables and materials including green waste, plastics, glass, cardboard or paper, paint, gas bottles, motor or vegetable oils, batteries, scrap metal, e-waste and mobile phones or fluorescent lights.
Gloucester ratepayers currently pay a domestic waste charge of $509 per annum.
In addition they pay $187 per year for use of their red garbage bin and $175 each for the yellow recycling and green organics bin.
Each ratepayer also pays $92.40 annually as a landfill operation charge.
Council has been undertaking an extensive capital works program at the landfill as part of a new waste management strategy, including the installation of a weigh-bridge.
