The tank was purchased with an NRMA Insurance community grant and will provide fire trucks with access to a plentiful water supply.

“It’s handy to have water available right here at the shed rather than having to go looking for it in a creek or dam,” brigade captain Anthony Duff said.

“With the dry weather we’ve had lately, finding water becomes a real issue. Here at the station we got down to the very bottom of our two tanks so to have this new one installed is a massive relief.”

The new tank effectively doubles the water storage capabilities of the brigade.

Mr Duff said it was the latest project the brigade had completed.

“We’ve always got a project on the go,” he said.

“We’ve put in a toilet block and two years ago we built a kitchen in the shed.”

The tanks will take advantage of any winter rainfall and store the water for times of need. 

This year across NSW 92 organisations received a community grant, with NRMA Insurance investing about $389,000 into local initiatives. 

Since the program’s inception in 2003, more than 1,550 projects have been supported nationally, totalling an investment of more than $6.6 million in local communities.
