The first game was against Adelong School and it was a nail-biter from start to finish. 

Adelong scored first but Barrington equalled when Owen Tomlinson scored from a penalty. 

The score stayed at 1-all until fulltime with an extra five minutes time each way. 

With minutes remaining Rohan Everett scored for Barrington, but in the final seconds Adelong pegged a goal back. 

The draw meant the game was decided on corners and Adelong took the match. 

A special mention to fearless goalie Ben Haynes who saved an amazing number of goals. 

The second game was against Blakebrook which Barrington won convincingly 3-0 with Owen Tomlinson scoring all three goals, placing the team third in the State; the same result as 2013.

In the beginning, the Barrington team consisted of a few soccer players and students who had never played in competition. 

Coach John Hughes put in hours of his own time to teach and nurture the team and they were a credit to him and the school. 

Every child played to the best of their ability and put in 100 per cent. 

“We would not have been able to go to the finals without the commitment of all the parents and Mr and Mrs Hughes who accompanied the team to Sydney,” principal Alison Wise said.

“We hope to be there again next year. Thanks also to our ever supportive P and C who donated $50 per child to offset some of the expenses of the trip as well as purchase our new uniforms. The team looked terrific.”
