Gloucester entered all but two of the 11 award categories for 2014, though what categories it has reached the finals in will remain a mystery until the awards weekend in Nundle from November 7 to 9.
Gloucester submitted entries in the cultural heritage award (Gloucester Show), community actions and partnerships award, conservation partnership award, environmental education award, (Gloucester Sustainability Festival), the sustainable water management award, the waste minimisation award and the sustainable business award as well as the overall Tidy Towns award.
“We’re definitely looking to get that State overall Tidy Towns award this year,” council’s environmental services coordinator Tania Parkinson said.
Gloucester was named the top tidy town in the State for populations less than 4000 in 2013 but lost out to Nundle for the overall award.
“We received four awards last year and have been consistently awarded since the first Tidy Town awards 34 years ago,” Ms Parkinson said.
A total of 43 towns across NSW entered this year’s awards, with a total of 174 submissions.
Ms Parkinson said the awards ceremony in Nundle would be attended by the mayor John Rosenbaum along with local Tidy Towns committee members.
- CARTER Crescent has been voted Gloucester’s overall Tidiest Street for 2014.
The Tidy Towns committee was impressed with the tidiness of all the residences in the street.
Congratulations to those residents receiving an award in recognition of their efforts of maintaining their house and gardens to such a high standard.
