The brothers competed in both the individual and teams events at the recent championships, held in the week leading up to the October long weekend.
Jacob, who plays in the under 15s age division, is ranked third in the State while Ethan, who plays in the under 13s, is ranked second.
The boys found the going tough in their respective individual competitions with Jacob finishing a commendable 13th while Ethan was 11th after drawing the number two ranked under 13s player in the nation in the opening round of the competition.
While the brothers found the going tough in the singles, in the teams event they excelled, with both contributing to help NSW win the silver medal behind Queensland.
“I certainly played better in the teams than I did in the individual,” Jacob said.
Ethan said he had been happy with his form throughout the week-long tournament.
“I played better than I normally do,” he said.
The brothers have been playing squash for the past four years, with Jacob the top-ranked junior in the district.
Both are on court up to five or six times a week and Jacob has recently started coaching younger players at the Gloucester courts.
“Squash is a really simple game to play, but it’s difficult to master,” Jacob said.
Ethan said he enjoyed the challenge of the game and the desire to push himself to become a better player.
