Owners of heritage-listed buildings in communities such as Taree, Wingham and also smaller villages including Krambach and Mt George are encouraged to apply.
“We have been offering these funds to owners of heritage places in the Manning Valley for over 10 years and the outcomes have been significant,” Lillian Cullen, heritage advisor said.
“We are very pleased that the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage is again assisting Council to make these funds available. These grants are like a helping hand – they often assist landowners to get renovations underway.
“While many of the grants may be assistance of up to$1,000, in some special circumstances the maximum of $2,000 has been provided.
“To be eligible these local heritage funds the total costs of the works must exceed the funds being offered. This fund has been successful in the last few years resulting in up to $135,000 worth of improvements to heritage places in the Manning Valley for a total fund allocation of only $12,000.”
Heritage places may include buildings, sites, landscapes, trees, museums, and collections of historical interest.
Common works undertaken have been painting, replacing weatherboards and making buildings structurally sound.
The Masonic Hall, St George building and St Marks Marlee Anglican Church were all successful applicants last year.
If you are interested in applying, fill out the application form here or contact council on 6592 5399.
Applications must be lodged by November 28 and the project is to be completed by April 7, 2015.
