George Souris, MP and Member for Upper Hunter, has welcomed the announcement of an additional $1,796,790 in needs-based funding for Upper Hunter government schools in 2015.
“This additional support is a result of government being the first to sign up to the Gonski Agreement, which will deliver $5 billion in additional funding to NSW students over six years,” Mr Souris said. “Schools in the Upper Hunter electorate began benefitting from additional resources distributed under the new Resource Allocation Model (RAM) last year.”
The distribution of funds on a needs basis gives school communities the opportunity to decide where best to distribute their resources, such as literacy and numeracy support, teachers’ professional development and community engagement.
Gloucester High will receive $331,610 and Gloucester Public will get $252,790.
