The ball was a black-tie affair, which was attended by 77 revellers from as far away as Sydney.
The function was catered for by Roadies Cafe, which provided a delicious three-course meal of nibblies, hot and cold platters in buffet style and taste-sensational desserts.
Music by “In Like Flynn” in a variety of musical genres had attendees dancing the night away.
The venue for the ball was a marquee raised in the Dairy Ring, which was an ideal location adjacent to a full commercial kitchen and toilets.
The organising committee of Melissa Williams, Tina Robinson and Sally Higgins had put in a lot of effort to make things so special, and were thrilled with the enjoyment evident on the night.
Tarnya Turner was responsible for table decorations – which included stunning native flowers such as kangaroo paw, combined with old favourites such as agapanthus.
Sandy Higgins gave a speech, which highlighted the fact that Gloucester Showground was in a beautiful location, and many horse and beef cattle properties have provided champions that go on to the Royal Easter Show.
He said he hopes that people can hold onto their traditions, while also looking forward and embracing the future.
President Howard said the ball was an occasion to try and forget about the dry weather and enjoy oneself.
He wants the community to look at the Showground as a possible venue for functions such as weddings, balls and presentations and he would welcome enquiries from anyone who would like to join the society.
New views and thoughts about the future would be most appreciated, and Howard can be contacted on 0487 196 987.
