With a combined value to the community of $11,200, the service club signs on each of the three approaches to town have just been replaced.
The old signs had served the district well for some 30 years but had started to show their age.
Local support was furnished by Campbell Engineering, Valley Motors, Barrington Trophies, Denell Transport, Chris Maslen and Gloucester Shire Council who assisted Rotarian John Read in ensuring the project reached fruition.
The signs were erected several weeks ago by a team of sweaty Rotarians.
Grants for the signs were obtained through the NSW Office of Communities as well as from Stratford Coal.
Rotary’s second major project was the installation of a fitness station in Gloucester District Park near the town tennis and croquet courts.
The equipment was funded from various community grants and construction was completed by Gloucester Rotary members.
The station is the first of three such sites which will be strategically placed throughout Gloucester District Park each with varied equipment.
Each station is valued at about $20,000 which represents a major investment in the health of the Gloucester community.
Gloucester Rotary would like to acknowledge contribution of John Read and the generous donations from Holiday Coast Credit Union and Stratford Coal.
An official opening with sponsor acknowledgement will be held early next year when the second station is constructed.
