The club celebrated a fantastic season with the presentation of trophies and medals and a barbecue dinner.
The club had a successful season with all athletes improving as the season progressed and jumping further and further each week. There were 11 club records broken this season.
In the javelin Bronte Wisely (U12) threw a distance of 15.47m, Olivia Allardice (U14) 12.35m and Laura Dunlop (U15) reached 11.45m to set new records.
Kenneth Wamsley set two new club records in the throw events with 12.85m in the shot put and 33.91m in discus.
It was great to see Cameron Dunlop set a new club record in the high jump, breaking a record of 1.42m set by Darryn Yates in 1980-81. Cameron cleared a height of 1.5m on the last competition night.
That same night Harrison Clarke set a new high jump record in the under 14s with a clearance of 1.6m.
Harrison set numerous club records throughout the year.
The club records he now holds are 100m sprint (12.32 seconds), 400m (1.03.24), long jump (5.55m), triple jump (10.86m) and high jump (1.6m).
Thanks to all the parents and family members that help on competition nights.
The club would not function without their support, from the starter to the timekeepers and team leaders. The club person trophy this year was awarded jointly to two ladies that come along each week.
Jenny and Suzanne Richards are the grandmother and aunty of two athletes (Oliver and Cody) and turn up each week, usually with two extra children and help set up for the events.
All year they have been in charge of the under 7s and under 8s and go about the events with no fuss. The club hopes to see all the athletes again next season and good luck to those competitors heading to the zone, regional and State carnivals.
