GLOUCESTER has enjoyed its wettest December since 2010 but is still on track for its driest 12 months in 20 years, according to rainfall data from the Bureau of Meteorology.

Not since 1994 has Gloucester experienced such a dry 12 months, with an annual total of 634.4mm since January 1 (to 9am December 23).
The total annual rainfall for 1994 was 615.4mm while the driest year on record was 1964 when the total rainfall for Gloucester during the year was 498.4mm.
Last summer was Gloucester’s driest since records began in 1888-89 with just 81.6mm of rain falling between the start of December and the end of February.
December has been among the wettest months of 2014, with 101mm to 9am Tuesday, just under the monthly average of 103.3mm.
The largest fall this month was 36mm on December 11.
March and August are the only months that have seen above average rainfall in 2014 and Gloucester is more than 300mm below its average annual rainfall of 981.9mm.
