Heavy rain and howling winds raged for about 20 minutes as the heavens opened, with small hail reported towards Bundook.
Gloucester SES controller Bruce Sun said the service had received just the one call-out, to a shed that had lost part of its roof near Kia-Ora.
The storm certainly captured the attention of some of Gloucester's amateur photographers with some spectacular shots shared on the Advocate's Facebook page.
