Chamber president Yvonne Reynolds said the evening had been an opportunity to thank the Garner family for its long association with the business community and congratulate the family on 89 years of successful supermarket retail in Gloucester.
The Garners announced last week their association with supermarket retail in Gloucester would end with the closure of their Foodworks store.
Ms Reynolds said among those to pay tribute to the Garner family at the dinner were MC Ian Shaw, council general manager Danny Green and former Advocate editor Peter Hazell.
