Pool manager John Parish said the pool closed last Friday on one of the most successful seasons in the past few years.
The operations of the pool have been scrutinised like never before in recent years due to council’s financial woes and Mr Parish said there had been a strong emphasis on attracting people back to the facility.
“It’s been a really positive season. We’ve had a great response to the new canteen format, weather wise it’s been a really good year and our Learn to Swim numbers have been the best yet,” he said.
“We’ve done a huge amount of tree maintenance and work on the grounds and council’s been really helpful in that regard.
“We’ve also taken significant steps in improving operations to save costs on water and energy.”
The pool will be drained, repaired and repainted in the off-season before reopening in the late September or early October.
The hydrotherapy pool will remain open through the winter from 6am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 11am on Saturday.
Learn to Swim classes will also continue through winter.
