Cricket NSW value and recognise the work that many young people do every year in Cricket clubs across NSW in voluntary capacities.
The Gloucester Junior Cricket Association was lucky enough to have one outstanding applicant from their association recognised with an award for their efforts across the 2014-15 season.
Junior and senior clubs were invited to nominate their exceptional youth volunteers, to value and recognise the work that many young people contribute to their club every year.
The Cricket NSW Youth Volunteer Awards are open to young people actively volunteering at junior and senior cricket clubs aged between 14 and 21 years of age.
Callan Radford from Gloucester proudly displayed a number of attributes that made him very worthy of such a nomination.
Not only did Callan actively coordinate and run the local MILO in2CRICKET centre on a regular basis during the season, he was also recognised for his efforts in working with a number of local primary schools under the Active After-School Communities banner during 2014, of which a cricket program formed a major part of this work.
“Callan was certainly a worthy recipient of the nomination as a part of these awards,” said Cricket NSW Senior Development Officer Ashley Bryant.
“His ongoing commitment to junior cricket in the Gloucester community is something that other youngsters both enjoy and can further aspire to achieve.
“There are certainly a couple of other locals whom would also deserve a nomination for this award, but Callan’s work outside of Saturday mornings and the 2014-15 season itself was just that little bit extra that tipped him over the line for this nomination.
“Certainly Callan’s efforts are not alone, with many volunteers holding these same, as well as many other responsibilities on a weekly basis in order to facilitate cricket across the Mid-North Coast.” Callan will receive a framed certificate and a signed cricket bat for his nomination.
He was also recognised for his help at the recent Gloucester Junior Cricket Association Presentation Ceremony, along with a number of local volunteers whom helped facilitate junior cricket in the 2014-15 season.
