GLOUCESTER’S annual Chill Out Festival has never felt so aptly named, or perhaps so it seems every year in the face of a bitter cold wind and intermittent snow at the Tops.

So this festival is designed to bring some winter warmth into everyone’s smiles, encouraging residents and visitors to take a leave pass from home hibernation to enjoy the town’s centre.
From 9am this Saturday a multitude of stalls and a smorgasbord of family friendly events will be held throughout the day on the main street and Billabong Park.
An interactive science and engineering fair for the more technically minded will spur dormant brain cells in to action for both children and adults. Test yourself against a team from the University of Newcastle.
The increasingly popular Canine Capers will be on again at the corner of King and Church Streets at 11am. If competing cute pooches are not quite your thing check out the wood chopping on the corner of Church and Queen Streets also at 11am.
Motoring enthusiasts will once again enjoy the historic cars and bikes at Car Torque along Church Street to Billabong Lane’s carpark. Motoring of another kind down the train line between Gloucester and Bundook is the Tin Hare, a 1920s heritage lightweight train of which only 10 remain in working condition. A free shuttle from Billabong Park will take passengers to and from the station to town, with shuttle pickups approximately 15 to 20 minutes prior to the train’s departure.
Complementing the events will be a variety of street entertainment, carnival rides, gourmet food and local wines, not forgetting the local businesses flanking the activities from all sides.
