Gloucester Volunteer Support Group welcomed new members and a new committee at their annual general meeting on July 1. Over the coming months, the group is looking forward to being involved in Chill Out, where they will be selling soup and roll along with merchandise and a Father's Day raffle at the Dinner Auction for an esky and goodies. A European holiday valued at over $17,000.00 will be drawn in another raffle by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service on September 30 at Newcastle.
It is the 40th anniversary of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and the Gloucester Support Group will celebrate this milestone with its Dinner Auction on September 5. Anyone who would like to donate new items towards our Dinner Auction is welcome to do so. Please leave items at Gloucester Health Food Shop with your name. Any enquires regarding the Dinner Auction, please Robyn Dillon on 0427 582 013.
In 1998, the community of Gloucester formed the Support Group with members including Barb and John Ikin, Lynn and Geoff Slack, Mary Forbes just to name a few. Between 1998 and up until the June 30, the support group has raised over $650,000 - a brilliant amount for such a small town. The community of Gloucester have supported the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service as it is a vital service that enables our loved ones to access hospitals in an emergency. No one that is transported by the Service has to pay - it is free for all patients. We would like to thank all the business hosting our collection tins as well as organisations who have donated to the service. Future donations can be made at Westpac. If you would like to join the volunteer support group, contact the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service on 180015515.
