The Gloucester Magpies have advanced to within one win from making this year’s grand final with a thrilling 18-12 win over local rivals the Stroud Raiders.

In what was a tight and sometimes scrappy encounter, the Raiders scored two early tries to lead 8-0 before the Maggies hit back with a try under the post to Simon Hitchcock. Soon after super sub Tom Yates scored out wide to close gap but a try to Stroud saw the Raiders go into the Gatorade break leading 12-8.
The Magpies came out in the second half with a more improved attitude in defence keeping the raiders scoreless in the second half. The Maggies managed to score two late tries to Corbin Predebon and Ethan taylor with Scoot Wratten kicking a great goal from the sideline.
The Maggies now play Clarencetown for the winner to play Kotara in this year’s grand final.
The game will be played at Raymond Terrace at 12.30pm Saturday. Bus leaves The Avon Valley Inn on Saturday at 10am.
