MidCoast Water’s ‘summer savers’ program applies throughout daylight saving to reduce the amount of water we use during the warmer months.
This program covers all water supply schemes in the Greater Taree and Great Lakes council areas. and applies to households, businesses, parks, gardens and sporting grounds.
MidCoast Water’s acting general manager Brendan Guiney said he hopes customers will once
again take up the challenge to reduce their water consumption during summer.
The program’s main message is simple - don’t spray in the middle of the day! All fixed hoses, sprinklers and microspray systems should not be used during the hottest part of the day – between 9am and 4pm.
“We hope to once again be able to get through the hot weather without the need for water restrictions.”
Supporting the summer water saving program will not only help water supplies, it is also more effective for gardens.
Watering during the heat of the day is inefficient as the water evaporates before the plants have a chance to benefit from it – wasting water, and money. Restricting watering to the cooler hours of the day is far more effective.
Mr Guiney said there are many simple ways of reducing water consumption and encouraged locals to think about waterwise options for the summer and encourages customers to logon to www.midcoastwater.com.au for more information.
