Sensory – it seems an apt name for a gallery exhibition mixing the tactile mediums of pottery and painting. The latest work of Wingham artists Peter and Yvette Hugill combines quite literally both their passions of Peter’s ceramics and Yvette’s paintings, ranging from traditional through to modern styles. Yvette found the process of painting on ceramic an enjoyable yet somewhat uncontrollable process, with colours emerging out of the kiln different to what had been intended.
With up to 50 pieces on display by Peter, who has exhibited in Gunnedah and Taree since taking up pottery 9 years ago, the exhibition also includes pastel, oil and acrylic works by Yvette, drawing from her love of landscape.
‘Sensory’ is on exhibition at Gloucester Gallery until November 29.
