Forestry Corporation of NSW’s Maitland-based recreation coordinator Michael Hill said some areas would be closed for the community’s safety due to dangerous trees, saturated soils, wind, flood waters and damaged roads.
Sites closed in Chichester State Forest include:
* Allyn River: Old Camp, Ladys Well, Dobbie Rim, Paddemelon, Allyn River Camping Area, White Rocks and Peach Tree
* Telegherry or Frying Pan River: Telegherry, Currawong, Frying Pan and Coachwood.
Mr Hill said these sites will be closed this weekend (January 9 and 10) and will be assessed next week to determine when they can reopen.
“While our recovery work is going on we ask that people pay extra attention to road closures, speed limits and warning signs and stay well away from closed areas,” Mr Hill said.
“We put barriers and signs in place for safety, so please don’t attempt to walk, drive or cycle past or around them.”
